Colo Colo defeated Universidad Concepcion in Chile


In the first leg of the Chilean Clausura championship quarterfinals, Colo Colo and Santiago Morning defeated Universidad de Concepcion and Audax Italiano, respectively, to earn significant victories.


El “Cacique” defeated Universidad de Concepcion 2-1 after coming from behind. In the 35th minute, Gabriel Vargas scored a penalty kick to give Concepcion the lead. However, Colo Colo equalized in the 71st minute thanks to Charles Aranguiz. Ezequiel Miralles scored a penalty kick five minutes before the end of the game to give Colo Colo the win.


The most popular club in Chile, Colo Colo, has won the national title a record 28 times.


Santiago Morning upset Audax Italiano 4-2 in a thrilling match, giving the winners a decent chance to move on.


The first half saw Juan Antonio Pizzi’s team outperform their opposition, and thanks to goals from Michael Rios and Sergio Comba, they led by two goals at halftime.


However, goals from Pedro Rivera and Cristian Canio allowed Audax to tie the score. But Morning responded, and in the closing ten minutes, goals from Mario Berrios and Miguel Hernandez gave them the victory.


Union Espanola and La Serena drew 1-1 on Saturday, and Universidad Catolica triumphed 2-0 at Everton.
