Colo Colo and Catolica tie in the first leg of the final in Chile

Over 40,000 spectators watched the fierce rivals Colo Colo and Universidad Catolica draw 2-2 in the opening leg of the Chilean Clausura championship final on Sunday at the Municipal stadium in Santiago.

After winning the Chilean regular season, ‘UC’ entered the championship as the favorites, but they weren’t at their best and almost lost to a Colo Colo team that has improved in the tournament after a very poor start.

Colo Ezequiel Miralles of Argentina headed in a perfect cross to give Colo the lead in the ninth minute.

The midfield of the game was hotly contested, with tackles coming in from every angle since the opponents didn’t want to concede anything.

After the half, Catolica played better football and it looked like they might score at any minute.

Milovan Mirosevic’s penalty kick in the 70th minute allowed Catolica to finally tie the score.

However, Mauricio Zenteno of Catolica scored an own goal five minutes later to give Colo Colo the advantage once more.

However, Hans Martinez scored a decisive header two minutes from time to win Catolica a point and beat Colo Colo goalkeeper Cristian Munoz.

On December 9, the Santa Laura stadium in Santiago will host the second leg of the championship match.
