After winning, Libertad and Nacional are joint league leaders in Paraguay


After crushing 12 de Octubre 3-0, Libertad and Nacional are tied for first place in the Paraguayan league.


For Libertad, midfielder Omar Pouso from Uruguay and Javier Gonzalez both scored twice.


After 14 rounds of the Clausura tournament, Nacional was defeated 2-1 by 2 de Mayo and was unable to maintain its undisputed lead in the rankings.


Ramon Caceres gave Nacional the lead midway through the first half, but Domingo Martinez quickly equalized for 2 de Mayo. Martinez scored again after the interval to give the underdogs the victory.


After defeating Tacuary 2-0 behind goals from Hugo Notario and Federico Santander, Guarani moved up to third position.


Former Paraguayan greats, Olimpia, and Rubio Nu battled to a 2-2 tie, and they are now in fourth place.


In the meanwhile, Sol de America defeated Cerro Porteno, the sole representative of Paraguay in the Copa Sudamericana, 1-0 on the strength of a goal from Ricardo Martinez.


Cerro advanced to the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals after winning the first leg 2-1 against Brazilian team Botafogo. On November 4, the series will be decided in Rio de Janeiro.
