Salvador Cabanas, a striker for Paraguay and Club America, may never remember what happened when he was shot in the head at close range at an upscale bar in Mexico City in January, according to a top medical expert. At the moment, Cabanas is receiving rehabilitation at a facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Cabanas won’t help investigators, Armando Ahued, chief of Mexico City’s health department, said on Tuesday. Police have not yet located Jose Balderas, who was seen on security cameras shooting the striker.
The Paraguayan national team’s outstanding player Cabanas has been ruled out of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, although doctors have not yet specified a timetable for his comeback to competitive football.
