Thiago Ribeiro declines a transfer to Bayern Munich

Thiago chooses to remain at Cruzeiro over Bayern Munich

Thiago Ribeiro, an attacker for Cruzeiro, has declared his commitment to his team even though he has drawn interest from numerous elite European teams, including Bayern Munich, who finished second in the UEFA Champions League. Thiago, who last week helped Cruzeiro defeat Nacional of Uruguay 3-1 in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 stages, has emerged as one of Brazilian football’s most sought-after players.

Thiago made his decision in large part because Cruzeiro is one of the favorites to win the Copa Libertadores.

Bayern Munich has lately expressed interest in Thiago, 24, but even if a trade would benefit Cruzeiro, the club and the player have chosen to completely rule it out. The former Sao Paulo forward is fully focused on helping Cruzeiro win the Libertadores after realizing how important the tournament is to the club.

“That [a potential transfer to Bayern Munich] is not something I’m very concerned with. I’m paying close attention to the Libertadores. I’m focused on that rivalry with Cruzeiro. On the right path, indeed. We must also get the Brasileiro off to a good start. The moment is not ideal to consider ideas or relocate to Europe. I’ve received such advice from several folks. Football is everything that matters to me, Thiago declared.

Thiago, who played for Bordeaux from 2003 to 2005, is not in a haste to return to Europe and plans to keep doing well in his native country before considering his choices.
