Real Madrid is considering signing Paulo Henrique Ganso for transfers.

Ganso may help Real Madrid out in the upcoming campaign

Paulo Henrique Ganso, an offensive midfielder for Santos, may be moving to Real Madrid for the upcoming season, according to rumors from the Spanish press. Together with another budding star striker Neymar, Ganso helped Santos win the Paulista State title in early May. Several football powerhouses have expressed interest as a result of such achievements.

Although he plans to stay at Santos for the 2010 Brazilian championship, 20-year-old Ganso has caught the interest of several major European teams due to his outstanding achievements this year. However, if he were to get a reasonable offer, he would not hesitate to leave for Europe.

The player’s brother, Julio Chagas de Lima, said that he has had multiple offers and that Ganso would be keen to play in either Italy or Spain in particular.

Real Madrid is considering Ganso as a possible candidate to take Guti’s post as a permanent successor. Real [Madrid] has money, as Lima puts it, and might very well be the player’s final destination for the upcoming campaign.

But in recent weeks, Santos’ president, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro, declared his intention to keep Ganso on the team till the conclusion of his term in December 2011. Ganso should stay at Santos until 2015, according to the president, while Neymar should only be permitted to leave the team in 2014.

“My intention is for them to remain here until the conclusion of their current contracts. For Santos, that would be fantastic,” he said.

In Dunga’s preliminary 30-man roster for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Ganso was named, and if he were to make the final cut, he might be a key midfield replacement.
