Gary Medel is wanted by Sevilla and English club transfers

Gary Medel could be headed to Sevilla of Spain.

Gary Medel, a Chilean international who plays for Boca Juniors, has drawn the attention of Spanish club Sevilla. His Argentine team and former club Universidad Catolica, who both control a portion of his rights, have placed his transfer price at $8 million. Medel has established himself as a valuable member of his club and his country, and he is anticipated to start for Chile at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Sevilla has expressed interest in the player, while an unnamed English team has reportedly made an offer to the boy’s agency. However, he acknowledged that Sevilla had made more headway in luring the player, and if talks move further in this vein, he will bolster the Andaluz squad for the upcoming campaign.

Medel, 22, joined Boca in the middle of last year, and he quickly made an impression on the team. Medel has been one of Boca’s notable players despite their struggles in the real Argentine Clausura championship, particularly for his two goals in the Argentine superclasico between Boca and archrivals River Plate.

Depending on how well Medel performs for Marcelo Bielsa’s Chile team at the World Cup in June, his transfer worth may rise if Boca decides to keep him on the team
